Survey on Tracking Device or Program |
|
Note: Several parents have contacted their local police departments since last year to express their interest in having a tracking device for their child due to the news reports in October of 2013 about the missing child, Avonte Oquendo, and the discovery of his remains 3 months later after an extensive search in New York City.
If you are interested in such a device or program for your child or adult with an autism spectrum disorder, please complete a NEW online detailed survey (see below) so we can help gather your responses. Various law enforcement agencies are interested in learning who would like their child or adult on the spectrum to participate in a program involving tracking devices.
As of now, there is no money set aside for such a program locally. However if we show an interest this would help expidite the matter. Then we can implemend this around the state of Louisiana.
The Lafayette Parish School System will be distributing hard copies of the newest survey to all special education classes before the end of the 2014-15 school year. Please complete and return the survey you will receive from your child's teacher OR you may access the online version.
Survey responses should be received in our office by November 24 for this first round, but we will continue to collect survey results year round.
Contact the Autism Society office by phone, 337-235-4425, or via email, , if you have any questions or concerns.
